Camden Conference in the Classroom ~ October
On a sunny Saturday morning in September, we warmly welcomed teachers from our participating Maine High schools to start planning the Camden Conference in the Classroom Program (CCC) for this academic year. Charlotte Singleton, Program Committee Chair, gave an overview of this year’s captivating topic. This led to an engaging discussion among the teachers and committee members, moderated by teacher Joe Hennessey of Greenville Consolidated HS (formerly of Piscataquis Community HS), focusing on the specific topics that would become part of each school’s curriculum. During the conversation one teacher highlighted an interesting coincidence: the participation of a student from India in her school program, which adds a unique perspective to her group. With the global migration trends on rise, Maine schools are experiencing more diversity. We hope to see this development being reflected in our programming as well. At the end the teachers decided to create a collaborative online resource bank where they could share all ideas and multimedia resources with each other. Sixteen high schools are participating in the Camden Conference in the Classroom program for 2024.
