Barak Ravid

Barak Ravid is the Global Affairs Correspondent and Middle East expert for Axios covering foreign policy and the 2024 election, and a CNN political and foreign policy analyst. He also writes for Walla News in Israel and previously worked as a diplomatic correspondent for Israel’s Channel 13 News and Haaretz. Based in Washington, D.C., he has established himself as a leading voice on Israeli-American relations and Middle Eastern politics.

Ravid served as an intelligence officer in the Israeli Defense Forces’ elite Unit 8200, focusing on signals intelligence. His journalism career began in 2007 as a political correspondent for Haaretz before joining Channel 13 in 2017. He has covered major diplomatic developments including the Abraham Accords, Israeli-Palestinian negotiations, and U.S.-Middle East foreign policy across multiple administrations. His reporting has provided critical insights into behind-the-scenes diplomatic efforts and regional security issues. In April 2024, he won the White House Press Correspondents’ Award, which he received personally from President Joe Biden.

His book Trump’s Peace: The Abraham Accords and the Reshaping of the Middle East was published in 2023, offering an in-depth analysis of the diplomatic breakthrough that normalized relations between Israel and several Arab nations. He has also contributed to numerous publications covering Middle Eastern affairs and U.S. foreign policy.

Ravid holds a Bachelor of Arts in Middle Eastern History from Tel Aviv University.
