Camden Conference to Sponsor Screening of TUTU at Camden International Film Festival

September 18 @ 8:15 pm - 10:15 pm

The Camden Conference is proud to sponsor a screening of TUTU, Sam Pollard’s documentary portrait of Archbishop Desmond Tutu, at the 2026 Camden International Film Festival. The screening will take place Friday, September 18 at 8:15 PM at the Strand Theatre in Rockland.

Directed by Sam Pollard (MLK/FBI, Citizen Ashe), TUTU draws on decades of rare, intimate footage shot by journalists Roger Friedman and Benny Gool, who followed the Nobel Peace Prize laureate for the last twenty years of his life. Rather than a conventional cradle-to-grave biography, the film focuses on how Tutu’s philosophy of non-violent resistance to apartheid shaped a nation and continues to resonate today. As Screen Daily wrote in its review, Pollard offers “an admirable, galvanizing, and incisive portrait of a peaceful ethos.”

The film had its world premiere at the 2026 Berlin Film Festival, where critics praised it as a deeply personal look at a man whose moral courage helped end apartheid and shape South Africa’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

This screening reflects the Camden Conference’s mission to foster understanding of critical global issues — and Tutu’s story of principled leadership and reconciliation speaks directly to that mission.

Individual screening tickets will be available for purchase starting September 1st. Get your Festival Pass here: pointsnorthinstitute.org/ciff/box-office
