New Staffers Bring a Wide Range of Skills and Experience
Please join us in welcoming two new Camden Conference staff members, Development & Communications Coordinator Eva McVicar and Administrative Coordinator Peter Mattox.
Eva McVicar‘s lifelong interest in international understanding and global affairs makes her a great fit for the Camden Conference! A native of the Czech Republic, she brings an impressive suite of skills to her new position including fluency in English and German as well as her native Czech, and extensive experience in education, marketing, and technology. At Colby College Eva served as assistant director of off-campus study, and fostered and managed institutional relations with Colby’s stakeholders and partners in the U.S. and abroad. She served as an international admissions counselor at Unity College, building the college’s international brand, and has editorial and publishing experience in Hamburg and Prague. At the Camden Conference, she will lead fundraising initiatives, cultivate and manage relationships with donors, and coordinate activities that will raise the profile of the Camden Conference and win new members. Eva lives in Portland with her husband.
Peter Mattox is a longtime friend of the Camden Conference, having attended multiple conferences over the years. He has wide-ranging interests. He has followed up his undergraduate degree in geography from New Mexico State University with studies in Mandarin Chinese at Middlebury Language Schools and Tsinghua University in Beijing and is currently completing master’s degrees in history at New Mexico State, as well as cartography and geographic information systems (GIS) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Peter has also been a ranch hand in Montana, an Outward Bound wilderness instructor, a hut caretaker for the Appalachian Mountain Club, and has through-hiked not only the Appalachian Trail but also the Pacific Crest and Continental Divide Trails. As the Camden Conference Administrative Coordinator Peter will maintain office systems and oversee administrative support for our ongoing year-round operations, including our Student Education Programs, Community Events, Special Events and the Annual Conference. He lives in the Midcoast area with his wife and daughter.
Welcome, Eva and Peter!
