Timbuktu – Film Screening in Yarmouth
January 24, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm EST

Merrill Memorial Library will screen Timbuktu (2015) on Wednesday, January 24 at 7:00 pm. The screening will be on the third floor of the Merrill Memorial Library, 215 Main Street, Yarmouth.
New World Disorder is beautifully though tragically wrought in the lives of the residents of the desert city of the film’s title when an Islamist group imposes Shariah law on them. The events depicted in the film are fictional, but they show realistically, even controversially, how complicated are the lives of regular people, both the zealous occupiers and their new subjects alike. Nominated for numerous awards when it came out in 2015, the critics at the New York Times recently named Timbuktu among the 25 best films of the 21st century so far.
This film screening is hosted by the Merrill Memorial Library and offered as one of dozens of free community events in anticipation of the 31st Annual Camden Conference –New World Disorder and America’s Future, February 16-18, 2018.
