Rwanda Bean Co: Coffee That Gives Back With Mike Mwenedata and Nick Mazuroski
December 6, 2015 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm EST

Mike Mwenedata and Nick Mazuroski founded the Portland-based Rwanda Bean Co. with a vision to generate sustainable profits for coffee farmers throughout Rwanda by directly linking them to the market. Their commitment goes beyond just purchasing beans; they have pledged to give 50% of their profits back to the farming community to provide school fees, health insurance, and to generate clean electricity in rural villages. The effort is particularly meaningful to Mike; at the age of nine, his father, mother, and five siblings were killed during the 1994 genocide in Rwanda. This event is free to attend. No reservations are required. For more information, call Adult Services at 883-4723 option 4 or email askSPL@scarboroughlibrary.org.
