February 10, 2022 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm EST
The Camden Conference and Scarborough Public will host Susana Hancock on Thursday February 10 at 6:30pm for her online presentation, “Paris at Six: Environmental Divides and Climate Unions in Europe” via Zoom: https://www.scarboroughlibrary.org/registration/paris-6-0
It has been six years since the 2015 Paris Agreement entered into force. The US is back in, but how is it going? The 2021 UN climate conference in Glasgow last November was supposed to solidify us on the track to limit warming to 1.5C but that did not happen. We have already warmed 1.1C, and with Glasgow’s shortfalls, what are our options going forward?
Susana Hancock, PhD, is a multidisciplinary researcher engaged in Arctic climate geopolitics and environmental anthropology. Recently, she has been working on several reports for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), chairing a team with the UN’s Ocean Decade and now leading a new team looking at the socio-geopolitical impacts of climate change in the North Atlantic/Arctic. She routinely writes policy papers and articles on a variety of subjects related to Arctic climate and is currently working on a book on the impact of research on the climate crisis. She is on the Executive Committee for the Association for Polar Early Career Scientists and works to engage emerging scholars in questions of diplomacy and climate throughout the polar regions.
Trained in both natural and social sciences, and with extensive non-profit and political experience throughout the world, Susana works to have a global impact on environmental policy and the climate crisis through multi-sector collaboration.
