Russia, China, and the Transition to the Market Economy (Lecture @ Belfast Free Library)

Professor Thomas Remington will give a presentation, “Russia, China, and the Transition to the Market Economy” on Tuesday, January 6 at the Belfast Free Library. This event takes place from 6:30-8:00PM and is free and open to all.
Thomas F. Remington is Goodrich C. White Professor of Political Science at Emory University. He is author of a numerous of books and articles on Russian politics. He is a past member of the Board of Trustees of the National Council for Eurasian and East European Research and of the Board of Directors of the American Association for the Advancement of Slavic Studies. He is Advisor for Russia Workshops for the East-West Parliamentary Practice Project, based in Amsterdam, and has planned and directed a series of workshops for parliamentarians in a number of cities in Russia since 1993. His research focuses on the development of political institutions in post-communist states, including parliamentary politics, legislative-executive relations, and labor market and social welfare institutions. In addition to courses dealing with Russian political development, he teaches courses in comparative political institutions and comparative political and economic reform.
This presentation is hosted by the Belfast Free Library and offered as a free community event in in anticipation of the 28th Annual Camden Conference: Russia Resurgent, February 20-22, 2015.
