January 19, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm EST

The Camden Conference in partnership with the Falmouth Memorial Library and Merrill Memorial Library will present Professor Jeff Thaler on Tuesday, January 19 at 7pm on Zoom. His talk will be “Comparing the Impacts of Climate Change upon Maine and Greenland.” This event is free and open to all. Even while most people are focused upon COVID-19, ongoing climatic changes fueled by our reliance upon fossil fuels are continuing to cause significant, long-term changes to economies and the environment. Maine and Greenland are each on the frontline of those climate changes, and have more in common than we realize. This talk will provide an overview of the impacts of change both in Greenland and Maine, and how each is attempting to plan and respond.
Jeff Thaler is a professor of practice at the University of Maine School of Law, and the associate university counsel for environmental, energy, and sustainability projects for the University of Maine System. He is also an associate faculty member of the University of Maine’s Climate Change Institute.
This lecture is sponsored by Falmouth Memorial Library and Merrill Memorial Library as one of the Camden Conference Community Events leading up to the 34th annual Camden Conference, the Geopolitics of the Arctic, a Region in Peril.
