Camden Conference speakers on Maine Public’s “Maine Calling”

February 22, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm EST

On Friday, February 22, Maine Calling on Maine Public Radio will highlight this year’s Camden Conference “Is This China’s Century?” The program airs live 1-2pm and repeats at 8pm. Maine Calling is an interactive program hosted by Jennifer Rooks that “features interesting conversations with interesting people.”

Once again this year, the Camden Conference will focus on a timely and compelling topic. The 2019 Camden Conference will explore China as it emerges as a major global power, and faces complex challenges in its domestic economic, social, environmental and political affairs and its relations with Asian neighbors, the United States and the broader international community.

Jennifer’s guests will be three speakers from this year’s Conference.

  • Keynote speaker Martin Jacques, author of the global bestseller When China Rules the World: The End of the Western World and the Birth of a New Global Order
  • Yuen Yuen Ang, author of How China Escaped the Poverty Trap
  • Robert Daly, director of the Kissinger Institute on China and the U.S, at the Woodrow Wilson Center in DC and will address U.S.-China relations at the Conference.

Tune in to get a preview of the Conference and take the opportunity to call in with questions. Maine Public is a sponsor of the Conference. The Conference takes place live at the Camden Opera House with streaming to the Strand Theatre in Rockland, the Hutchinson Center in Belfast, and USM in Portland, February 22, 23 and 24, 2019. Conference Registration is now open and seats are going quickly.
