Bay Chamber Odeon Orchestra and Chamber Ensemble Performs Russian Works (@ Union Hall)
February 10, 2015 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm EST
The Bay Chamber Concerts Odeon Orchestra and Chamber Ensemble will present a concert of Russian and Russian-influenced works on Tuesday, February 10th at 7:00 pm, in conjunction with the Camden Conference at Union Hall located at 24 Central Street Street in Rockport.
The Odeon Adult Ensemble (strings, winds and piano) is designed for adult players at the intermediate level or above. It offers musicians in the local area a warm and welcoming place to play exciting music, learn ensemble skills, and build camaraderie. Works from the great orchestral repertoire will be explored in a friendly and supportive environment.
Works for chamber orchestra and chamber ensembles will be heard in this delightful concert showcasing the Russian composers Tchaikovsky, Glazunov, Kalinnikov, and others, conducted by Dr. Deirdre McClure. Soloist Heidi Karod will join the orchestra to perform the Canzonetta from the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto.
The mission of the Odeon Ensemble Program is to offer musicians the opportunity to:
- Play in a variety of ensemble settings, including full orchestra, chamber ensembles and as soloists.
- Develop the musical skills necessary for ensemble play.
- Foster connections between students in the program, both in and outside of rehearsals.
- Perform orchestral and other string works in concert settings that are open to the public.
