Discussion Series Returns for 2015

The Camden Conference free Community Events Discussion Series returns this year with a four-part monthly series that will offer participants an opportunity to investigate Russia’s People, Politics, Economy and Neighbors — all in preparation for the 2015 Camden Conference, Russia Resurgent.

The facilitated discussions will begin with October’s topic, Russia’s People, at the Belfast Free Library on Wednesday, October 1 at 6:30 PM, to be followed at the Rockland Public Library on Thursday, October 2 at 6:00 PM, and at the Camden Public Library on Tuesday, October 7 at 7:00 PM.

The series will run regularly on the first Tuesdays in Camden at 7:00 PM, first Wednesdays in Belfast at 6:30 PM, and first Thursdays in Rockland at 6:00 PM.

The readings for October’s topic, Russia’s People, include Wikipedia’s brief “History of Russia;” an article from The Moscow Times, “How Self-Sacrifice Has Shaped the Russian Soul;” “The Enigmatic Russian Soul,” in The American Thinker; and, “11 Things Everyone Should Know About Russian Demographics,” from Forbes.

November’s topic is Russia’s Politics; December’s focus is Russia’s Economy; and in January, the subject will be Russia’s Neighbors. Participants will have the opportunity to be part of a lively discussion based on selected readings, which can be found at www.camdenconference.org. Participants are encouraged to read the selections ahead of the discussion. Participation in all four sessions is encouraged.

This free Community Events Discussion Series is offered in anticipation of the 28th Annual Camden Conference: Russia Resurgent, February 20-22, 2015.

The mission of the Camden Conference is to foster informed discourse on world issues. For more information, visit www.camdenconference.org, email [email protected], or call 207-236-1034.
