Camden Conference on Maine Public’s Speaking in Maine
One of the many public affairs lecture series Maine Public Radio presents weekdays at 2:00 pm, In partnership with many civic minded organizations and education institutions from all around the state, Speaking in Maine features diverse speakers addressing many of the important issues of our day. Beginning on Tuesday, March 3, Speaking in Maine takes us next to the recent Camden Conference focusing on The Media Revolution: Changing The World. The first of three programs features the keynote address from Nicco Mele from the Harvard Kennedy School on Remember Rule 1: It Will Get Crazier, followed by Jeff Jarvis from the City University of New York speaking on HANDS OFF OUR NET!
On March 4, the second of three programs features Joshua Tucker from New York University speaking on Social Media, Democracy, Fake News And Fact Checking, followed by Kathleen Hall Jamieson from the University of Pennsylvania, who focuses on Cyberwar: Coping With The Challenges Posed By Trolls And Hackers.
On March 5, we hear from Maria Ressa, CEO of Rappler.com, an online news organization in the Philippines, on Fighting Back With Data. Following that, we hear from Mexican investigative journalist Lydia Cacho Ribeiro, a Goodwill ambassador for the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, who speaks on Journalism That Tells The Truths- A Task For The Brave.
