The success of the Camden Conference over the years has been due in no small way to contributions from individual supporters. To thank these benefactors and to encourage their continuing support, a membership program is offered to provide contribution-based privileges, such as early conference registration and invitations to special events.

Your Becoming a Member Benefits the Conference, the Community and You:

  • The Camden Conference began in 1987 as a small gathering of foreign-policy experts at a church in Camden. Since then the main conference in February has expanded to include hundreds more participants in venues in Rockland and Belfast. In the same period, Conference-theme-related community events have developed into a year-round program in libraries, museums, and other venues in Maine. Donations from foundations, local businesses, and members have made this expansion to wider audiences possible.
  • Membership donations also help expand the Conference’s educational component, helping to fund the vehicles that bring the Conference’s content to Maine college and high school students. These vehicles include our scholarships, which allow more than 60 college and high school students to attend the Conference, and our rapidly developing Website, www.camdenconference.org, which makes the Conference accessible year-round and world-wide through on-demand access to CamCasts, reading lists, and Highlights of past conferences. The University of Maine is now using these Website materials for Web-based classes.
  • Members are eligible for certain exclusive personal benefits: early Conference registration preferred seating in the Camden Opera House, invitations to special events, and more (See all Member Benefits, below). The Conference is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, and your donations are tax deductible to the extent allowable by law.

Representative ($50 to $99)

  • Eligibility for significant discounts on subscriptions to such leading world affairs publications as: The Economist, Foreign Affairs, and National Geographic
  • Entry to raffle for two complimentary Opera House tickets to Conference

Attache´ ($100 to $299)

  • All of the above-listed benefits, plus:
  • A Complimentary copy of Highlights from the Annual Conference
  • Acknowledgment in the Conference Program
  • Early registration for the Annual Conference, 2 weeks ahead of general mailing

Consul ($300-$499)

  • All of the above-listed benefits, plus:
  • Preferred seating for two people in Orchestra section at the Camden Opera House (Conference ticket must be purchased separately.)

Diplomat ($500 to $749)

  • All of the above-listed benefits, plus an option for two people to attend Friday evening speakers’ dinner. (Tickets for both the Conference and the dinner must be purchased separately.)

Ambassador ($750 to $1,499)

  • All of the above-listed benefits, except that the preferred seating at the Camden Opera House is for four people. The option to attend the Friday evening speakers’ dinner is for two people. (Tickets for both the Conference and the dinner must be purchased separately.)
  • Seating for two people with a Conference Speaker during lunch on Saturday
  • Invitation to Saturday night Event

Cabinet Member ($1,500 and higher)

  • All of the above-listed benefits, plus the option for up to four people to attend the Friday evening speakers’ dinner. (Tickets for both the Conference and the dinner must be purchased separately.)

Annual Membership terms begin each year on March 1st
