Become a Member

The success of the Camden Conference over the years has been due in no small way to contributions from individual supporters. To thank these benefactors and to encourage their continuing support, a membership program is offered to provide contribution-based privileges, such as early conference registration and invitations to special events.

Your Becoming a Member Benefits the Conference, the Community and You:

  • The Camden Conference began in 1987 as a small gathering of foreign-policy experts at a church in Camden. Since then the main conference in February has expanded to include hundreds more participants in venues in Rockland and Belfast. In the same period, Conference-theme-related community events have developed into a year-round program in libraries, museums, and other venues in Maine. Donations from foundations, local businesses, and members have made this expansion to wider audiences possible.
  • Membership donations also help expand the Conference’s educational component, helping to fund the vehicles that bring the Conference’s content to Maine college and high school students. These vehicles include our scholarships, which allow more than 60 college and high school students to attend the Conference, and our rapidly developing Website, www.camdenconference.org, which makes the Conference accessible year-round and world-wide through on-demand access to CamCasts, reading lists, and Highlights of past conferences. The University of Maine is now using these Website materials for Web-based classes.
  • Members are eligible for certain exclusive personal benefits: early Conference registration preferred seating in the Camden Opera House, invitations to special events, and more (See all Member Benefits, below). The Conference is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, and your donations are tax deductible to the extent allowable by law.
