These libraries and nonprofit and educational organizations generously host and collaborate with the Camden Conference to provide free and low-cost events throughout the Midcoast area and beyond

Bay Chamber Concerts

Bay Chamber Concerts presents more than 40 concerts and special events each year, including in-school residencies and student performances. These performances are inclusive of classical, jazz and world music as well as dance often introducing these art forms to young audiences for the very first time. Each August, the Next Generation Chamber Music Camp provides invaluable ensemble coaching to over 70 young Maine musicians.

Center for Maine Contemporary Art

The Center for Maine Contemporary Art (formerly Maine Coast Artists) is a nonprofit organization advancing contemporary art in Maine through exhibitions and educational programs. The Center offers Maine’s most active year-round exhibition schedule, nurtures public understanding of both traditional and nontraditional artistic expression, and provides professional development opportunities for artists.

Colloquy Downeast

Colloquy Downeast is offering a winter course titled “IS THE U.S. FINISHED AS A GLOBAL LEADER?” facilitated by Bob Sargent, at the Blue Hill Public Library. FMI, visit the Colloquy Downeast website.

Farnsworth Museum

The Farnsworth Art Museum offers a nationally recognized collection of American art in its elegantly appointed galleries. Such great names in 18th- and 19th-century American art history as Gilbert Stuart, Thomas Sully, Thomas Eakins, Eastman Johnson, Fitz Hugh Lane, Frank Benson, Childe Hassam, and ­Maurice Prendergast are represented in the museum’s permanent collection entitled Maine in America. The museum also houses the nation’s second-largest collection of works by premier 20th-century sculptor Louise Nevelson and has opened four new galleries to showcase contemporary art. Its Wyeth Center exclusively features works of Andrew, N.C. and Jamie Wyeth–America’s first family of art. The Farnsworth’s library is also housed in its Rockland, ME, campus. Two historic buildings–the Farnsworth Homestead and the Olson House–complete the museum complex.

Pop!Tech

Pop!Tech is a one-of-a-kind conference, a community of remarkable people, and an ongoing conversation about science, technology and the future of ideas. The conference takes place each October at the Camden Opera House. The folks who both produce and participate in Pop!Tech passionately believe:

  • That individuals and small groups have the power to shape the future
  • That all of us together are smarter than any of us alone
  • That good ideas should trump ideologies – whether on the Left or Right
  • That robust debate is the sign of a community’s health
  • That tomorrow will be more surprising than today
  • That progress is possible.

The Game Loft

The Game Loft is a non-profit youth center where people of many ages can enjoy non-electronic games. Use of the Game Loft is free, and the organization offers a variety of healthy snacks for students. Games offered include trading card games like Pokemon or Yu-Gi-Oh, role-play games like D&D or Star Wars, traditional games like chess or dominoes, and strategy board games and party games, like Apples to Apples. The Game Loft was established in 1998. Its purpose is to promote positive youth development through games.
